NoVA Gonstead Chiropractic
At NoVA Gonstead Chiropractic, we believe that effective chiropractic care begins with understanding the individual patient—not simply treating a painful area.
Our practice is focused on the Gonstead System of Chiropractic, a specific, analytical approach to chiropractic care that emphasizes a detailed examination of the spine, careful analysis of findings, and precise chiropractic adjustments when indicated.
Located in Fairfax, Virginia, our office serves patients from Fairfax and surrounding Northern Virginia communities who are looking for personalized chiropractic care for back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, posture-related problems, sports injuries, and other musculoskeletal concerns.
A Personalized Approach to Chiropractic Care
Every patient is different. Even when two people have similar symptoms, the underlying mechanical findings may be different.
For this reason, we do not believe that every patient should receive the same examination or the same adjustment.
At our office, we take time to evaluate the patient's history, symptoms, posture, spinal alignment, movement patterns, and other relevant findings. When appropriate, X-rays and other examination procedures may be used to help us better understand the structure and mechanics of the spine.
Our goal is to identify the areas that require attention and develop a chiropractic care plan based on the patient's individual findings.
The Gonstead Approach
The Gonstead System places particular emphasis on detailed analysis before performing an adjustment.
Depending on the patient's condition, the examination may include:
These findings are considered together rather than relying on symptoms alone.
When a chiropractic adjustment is appropriate, the Gonstead approach emphasizes a specific adjustment directed toward the area identified through the examination.
Your First Visit
We want your first visit to be informative and thorough.
Your initial appointment generally focuses on understanding your health history and current concerns, performing an appropriate examination, and gathering the information needed to evaluate your condition.
When X-rays are indicated, they may be taken and analyzed as part of the evaluation.
In most cases, we prefer to review the examination and X-ray findings carefully before presenting our recommendations. This allows us to take the time necessary to understand the findings rather than rushing through the process.
A Report of Findings is typically provided at the following visit, where we explain what we found, how the findings may relate to your symptoms, and what chiropractic care may or may not be appropriate for your condition.
If a patient is experiencing significant acute pain and an adjustment is clinically appropriate, care may sometimes begin during the initial visit, with the Report of Findings provided afterward.
Quality Over Quantity
We believe chiropractic care should be based on careful examination, clinical findings, and individualized treatment.
Our approach is not simply to provide an adjustment because a patient has pain. We first want to understand what may be contributing to the patient's problem and determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate.
We also recognize that chiropractic care is not appropriate for every condition. When a patient's condition requires medical evaluation or care outside the scope of chiropractic treatment, we encourage appropriate referral and coordination of care.

At NoVA Gonstead Chiropractic, we are committed to providing patients with:
